[노트펫] 딸을 뺏긴 아픔을 겪은 ‘어미소’가 구조된 후 제2전성기를 맞이했다. 현재 이 소는 동물친화적인 농장에서 극진히 대우받고 있다고 지난 18일(현지 시간) 미국 동물전문매체 퍼레이드펫츠가 보도했다.
매체에 따르면, 미국 캘리포니아에 위치한 동물 보호 단체 ‘The Gentle Barn Sanctuary’는 암소 ‘로잘리(Rosalie)’를 보호하고 있다.
로잘리는 한 농장에서 번식용 암소로 살다가 인간에게 새끼를 빼앗기는 아픔을 겪었다. 매체에 의하면, 이같은 농장에선 암소에게 정기적으로 인공수정을 시켜서 새끼를 낳게 한다고. 새끼는 도살되거나 다른 농장에 팔려간다.
로잘리 역시 딸을 낳고도 돌보지 못한 채 그대로 보내야 했다. 소는 본능적으로 새끼를 돌보고 싶어 하기 때문에 함부로 데려가면 매우 슬퍼한다고 매체는 설명했다.
그러나 로잘리는 단체 ‘Love Always Sanctuary’에 구조되며 새로운 국면을 맞이했다. 구조된 녀석은 ‘The Gentle Barn Sanctuary’의 농장으로 보금자리를 옮기고 이전과 다른 삶을 살게 됐다.

She was rescued by Love Always Sanctuary, but didn’t have a herd and when our matriarch passed, Love Always offered Rosalie to us in the hopes that she would blossom in the company of our cows. 지난 17일 단체가 틱톡에 공개한 영상은 로잘리의 달라진 일상을 보여준다. 영상 속에서 로잘리는 친구 소와 어울리며 한가롭게 여유를 즐긴다.
이어 사람들은 각자 로잘리에게 책을 읽어주고, 바이올린도 연주해주며 녀석을 융숭하게 대우해준다. 로잘리도 싫지 않은지 이들을 피하지 않는 모습.
앞으로 로잘리는 이곳에서 행복한 여생을 보낼 예정이다. 단체는 영상 설명글을 통해 “로잘리는 앞마당의 대장 암소로 자리 잡았습니다”라고 말했다.
이어 “저희 농장의 전 대장이 세상을 떠났을 때 Love Always Sanctuary가 로잘리를 저희에게 보내주었습니다”라며 “이제 로잘리의 삶에는 꽃이 피었습니다”라고 덧붙였다.
